The Second South Asia Regional Public Procurement Conference will be held in Islamabad from March 25th to 27th, 2014.

The conference will be hosted by the Federal Public Procurement Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and is co‐sponsored by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. The conference is an annual learning and networking event for the heads of public procurement of the eight South Asian countries and is a follow up to the one held in Kathmandu in April 2011 hosted by the government of Nepal.

The conference will provide an opportunity to the participants to share their knowledge, experiences, and good practices about public procurement. This in turn will help the country participants to continuously enhance performance of their public procurement systems. The conference will also foster regional cooperation on public procurement. Furthermore, the participants will have an opportunity to learn from several world experts about the latest developments in public procurement, in general, and procurement performance measurement and capacity building, in particular.

The event will be attended by about 100 participants. In addition to the heads of public procurement, participants will include 66 high‐level government officials responsible for public procurement policymaking; oversight agencies; and representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank, and other development partners active in Pakistan.
