About the institute

The All India Management Association (AIMA) is the national apex body of the management profession in India. Over the last five decades, AIMA has contributed immensely to the enhancement of management capability in the country.

AIMA has a broad base of 66 Local Management Associations including two cooperating LMAs abroad, with a membership crossing 30,000 in number. AIMA is a non-lobbying organisation, working closely with Industry, Government, Academia and students to further the cause of the management profession in India. AIMA is represented on the Boards of India’s premier Business Institutions like Indian Institute of Management – IIMs. AIMA is also represented on Boards of Government bodies including the All India Council for Technical Education, National Board of Accreditation, National Productivity Council to name a few.

AIMA makes a salutary contribution to management learning and practice in the country by offering various services in the areas of testing, distance education, research, publications and management development programmes.

AIMA brings to the Indian managers, the best management practices and techniques through numerous foreign collaborations with professional bodies and institutions. AIMA is a member of the Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO) and works closely with several international management institutions like Robert H Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, St Gallen Foundation etc. in organising international conferences and management development programmes. About CME

Established in 1993, Centre for Management Education (CME), the education wing of AIMA, functions as a full-fledged autonomous business school, in distance learning mode with the network of 80 nodal centres in 30 cities. Majority of these nodal centres are good business schools.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)/ Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Management (PGDITM) are the flagship programme of CME and has AICTE approval since 1994. The Post Graduate Certificate Programme (PGCM) offered in 7 functional areas and Advanced Certificate Programme offered in 6 areas are approved from Distance Education Council, (DEC), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. This is a tripartite approval form, AICTE, UGC ad DEC.

The PGDM/PGDITM/PGCM programmes are also available “at the doorstep” of companies through the In Company initiative and through e-learning at the desktop of student. CME’s prestigious Ph.D in Business Administration was launched in January 2000 keeping in mind the needs of working professionals having academic inclination and to expand the pool of management teachers. AIMA-CME also offers Professional and Short-duration Certificate to meet the knowledge up-gradation needs of working professionals.

AIMA-CME has successfully developed a blend of modes of learning and multimedia pedagogy for its flexible learning programme. Conventional tools namely books/study guides, class room teaching (PCP) by industry experienced faculty are combined with elearning modes such as discussion board and chat rooms for the convenience of working students.

Awards & Achievements

Focusing on today’s potential for tomorrow’s performance, AIMA’s Management Development program align with AIMA’s mission to enhance competitiveness of Indian managers across functional areas while improving their knowledge AIMA has been conducting its flagship Global Advanced Management Programme (GAP) in collaboration with International Universities of repute. AIMA has so far organized these programs in Shanghai, China & has initiated a GAMP in the United States as well.

AIMA organizes several conferences, events and forums at both national & international level. To name a few, we have National Management Convention, World Marketing Congress, Global Innovation Conference, National HRM Summit, National Brand Sumit, Global SCM Summit. This sessions act as platform for Industry leaders, policy makers, academicians & though leaders to articulate and share their views on current trends practices and challenges and their impact on business scenario.

AIMA has set up a Centre for Skill Development & Training. This new division focuses on productivity enhancement, training design, delivery, assessment and certification.

AIMA, every year honours eminent personalities who have made outstanding contribution in the world of professional management. AIMA conferred Lifetime Achievement Award for management, JRD Corporate Leadership Award, Public Service Excellence award on annual basis.

Some other awards conferred by AIMA includes, AIMA Kewal Nohria award for Academic Leadership in Management Education, AIMA R K Swamy High Performance Brand Award, Dr Ram Taneja award for Best Article in Indian Management, AIMA’s Dr J S Juneja award for Creativity & Innovation for Small & Medium Enterprises.

With a turnaround in the global economy, India is back in business. Indian economy is poised to have a very fascinating year with higher growth rate in 2014. Leading indicators are improving, fiscal tightening is moderating and though structural issues remain, they should not act as hurdle for improvement in growth.

With the promising time ahead, the All India Management Association (AIMA), as national apex body of management profession in India, would continue to contribute as an educational institute in the building of a nation .AIMA has a broad base of 66 Local Management Associations including two cooperating LMAs abroad, with a membership crossing 30,000 in number. AIMA is a non-lobbying organisation, working closely with Industry, Government, Academia and students to further the cause of the management profession in India.

AIMA, in collaboration with World Bank would like to be part of the procurement capacity building effort of World Bank in India. Public procurement is an important element of Indian economy. Its smooth functioning is must since it acts as a tool for promoting and sustaining economic growth and socio economic development. Public procurement activity accounts for substantial amount of global and national expenditure. In India, estimated of public procurement vary between 20% of GDP to 30% of GDP. This creates the need to enhance the skills and integrate the best practices by training the people who are into and are soon to enter the workforce in this field.

Moreover, with introduction of public procurement bill in the parliament of India in March 2012 and commitment to rollout e- procurement system across all departments, makes the systematic training in public procurement area all the more important.

I am sure, that with World Bank initiative to launch the Professional Program in Public Procurement and AIMA’s contribution as a Partner institute, we would be in a position to make salutary contribution to management learning & practices of India.
