I am graduate in B.E. CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) from College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), Anna University. Thereafter, I joined Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited – Electronics Division (BHEL-EDN) as Engineer Trainee in Jul 2011. I began my career in Control Equipment-Material Management-Purchase Resold (CE-MM-PR) in Nov 2011 and subsequently promoted to Senior Engineer in Jul 2016.

Despite the extremely tough nature of job, procurement trapped my attention while I was only an Engineer Trainee and that interest is self-sustaining as there is great scope for improving processes and bringing value for money for our organization. My procurement work profile includes preparation of bid documents, floating many types of tenders including global tenders, commercial evaluation of offers, being member of bid opening and negotiation committees for various items for many power plant projects. Since my department is focused on third party items directly shipped to customer site, my job role also includes follow up from purchase order placement to achievement of turnover.

I am lucky and proud to acknowledge that Certificate Program in Public Procurement (CPPP) was made mandatory as a part of Sourcing Policies workshop conducted in BHEL-EDN in Apr 2018. CPPP was very informative and provided insight into the basic concepts as well as finer aspects of public procurement. Transparency and innovation are few key qualities required in the professionals that this course propagates and successfully inculcates in the participants. I would like to thank the World Bank for designing this extraordinary knowledge-enriching programme.

I’m a medical doctor holding a degree of MBBS and post graduate degree of MSc in Community Medicine. Currently doing my postgraduation MD in Community Medicine. I worked in the hospital setup as a medical officer for 2 years and after doing my MSc in Community Medicine, I was attached to the field healthcare medical officer post for 2 years.  Since my specialty is in public health I’m currently attached to the Environmental & Occupational Health Directorate, Ministry of Health Sri Lanka for 2 years. We are managing the national programs of Occupational Health and Environmental Health at the central level. While I’m attached to Ministry of Health, I followed certificate courses in Bid Document preparation and Bid Evaluation conducted by the MILODA financial institute in Sri Lanka.

The knowledge on public procurement is highly desirable for us when we are working in public health institutions at central and regional levels. Gaining knowledge on procurement procedures in local context and international context is highly important to our public health profession, since we need to collaborate with international organizations as well.  Knowledge on public procurement will allow us to bring justice to the public money we are spending on public health programs. I’m helping others in the unit with their procurement actions to ensure transparency and Value for Money.

CPPP is a very comprehensive pack of knowledge deliver in a user friendly online platform. It uses simple language and commands to follow. So very useful for distant learners to follow an international standard course easily. The knowledge gained from this course was very useful to understand the fundamentals of the procurement. I enjoyed doing this course.

I am a graduate from the University of Auckland, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biological Science and a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific. I am currently working with Tonga Public Service Commission as Deputy Secretary for Corporate Services and Human Resources Management. I have been with the Tonga Public Service for 12 years now.

Procurement matters has always been an interest of mine, given my current role as Head of Corporate Services which handles all procurement matters for the Office of the Public Service Commission. I have always wanted to improve my knowledge about procurement given my non-financial management background.

I really enjoyed the course and new concepts about procurement, especially governance and ethical issues. The fact that the course was all done online was a plus for me as it really fits in well with my busy schedule at work. I would encourage all procurement professionals to take up the course, as it updates your knowledge about the current best practice on procurement, plus having good procurement knowledge and processes ensures that we get value for money for our organisations.

Being a practitioner, it has always important for me to achieve professional qualifications and certifications for keeping myself abreast with latest knowledge. I believe that refresher courses like this always help not only in honing capabilities of procurement professionals but also complement my professional qualifications.

“Certificate Program in Public Procurement” is a valuable online training course and encompasses all dimensions of Public Procurement. The program enables professionals to learn modern tools and techniques to ensure transparency, integrity, economy, openness, fairness, competition and accountability while managing public procurement. This certificate program is very helpful for procurement practitioners of developing countries who are managing procurement from tax payer’s and loan money.”

I am very much committed to improve my skill set in procurement function and have also successfully qualified another certification “Certificate Program in Contract Management”. Both certifications have helped me while managing procurement activities in Punjab Skill Development Project. I have a faith that knowledge clubbed with experience can give desired results for achieving good governance and averting malpractices in procurement.

I am a MBA in Operations and Finance from Amity Business School, Noida, India. I also hold a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical from Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur, Punjab, India.

I am currently working as Sr Engineer, MM-Planning in BHEL, a Schedule- ‘A’ CPSE in India. As a MM planning officer my role is to effectively plan and control the ‘Bought Out’ Items and materials inventory in order to achieve the desired service levels with optimum stock level. Also to Setup and administer policy and procedures for cost control and minimum Stock analysis. Previously worked as a Purchase officer at BHEL, where I worked extensively worked on procurement, supplies and related services.

Materials Management requires continuous learning. I found CPPP very helpful to further enhance domain knowledge. Also, the course is a blend of e-learning and self-study. The division of the course into various modules Introduction to Procurement and Public procurement, Public Procurement Operations; and Public Procurement and Good Governance helps in modulated learning at our own pace and availability of study time. I am further looking to complete Certificate Program in Contract Management (CPCM) through www.procurementlearning.org.

CPPP gives you an opportunity to learn and develop at your comfort and has been made easy to understand. Best part of CPPP is that it is helpful for people of all fields be it technology, agriculture, FMCG, manufacturing etc., since material procurement is the basic requirement of any business.

I completed a B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. In addition to that, I have a PGDM in Rural Management from Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi. I also hold a Masters degree in Development Practice (MDP) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.

I have about 4.5 years of experience in the developmental sector. Initial three years, I worked as Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellow (PMRDF) with the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India. Currently, I work with Ernst & Young LLP in one of their projects in Odisha, India. I have rich public procurement experience particularly in the developmental space. I have done public procurement for Livelihoods, Health, Nutrition and other similar sectors, throughout my career.

I was actively involved in public procurement, yet, I didn’t have the required theoretical framework to back decisions that I took as a procurement specialist. Hence, I was convinced that this course would enable me to fill that gap, and provide me a golden opportunity to better my knowledge and skills in public procurement.

Public procurement is very important in developmental governance. I will ensure that I imbibe and inculcate the professionalism of public procurement in all procurement advice given to my clients – including the government.

This is one of the best MOOC courses that I have taken. The simplicity and design of the course will enable any layman without any knowledge of procurement to understand the nuances of it with relevant examples. This is a gold mine.

I completed my graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Sir Padampat Singhania University Udaipur in 2012. In 2017, I completed Post Graduation in Development Practice from Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai.

Currently I am working as a Senior Project Officer at Project Management Unit established for District Mineral Foundation Keonjhar, Odisha in collaboration with EY. My responsibilities involve project preparation, coordination with work departments (and various stakeholders), public procurement, monitoring and evaluation. I have also worked as Prime Ministers Rural Development Fellow (an initiative of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India) in Madhya Pradesh. I have overseen and initiated a few procurement processes for the district administration which involve selection of agency for services and for providing goods.

My current job involves a lot of procurement activities such as preparing bid documents and oversee the bidding process. CPPP provided me a unique opportunity to increase my knowledge base and learn the nuances for better and efficient understanding implementation of public procurement. This certification also provided me with recognition as being certified professionals of public procurement.

Public procurement is a very nuanced and specialized procedure which is largely carried out by officials who are not aware about its Standard Operating Procedure. This leads to poor execution and raises questions on the transparency. I strongly believe that public procurement should be carried out only by professionals having expertise and officials should be certified so as to enable a standard practice across government procurement processes.

This MOOC Course is a great way to help Procurement Professionals as they can obtain more knowledge about public procurement. I would like World bank to introduce more of these courses to learn and sharpen one’s skills for better and efficient Public Procurement Practices.

The participants will be able to understand the basic rules and regulations regarding procurement, methods of procurement for Goods, Works and Services in the public sector.

It is good to see that the World Bank is trying to help in establishing good governance and transparency especially in the Public Procurement sector around the world. In doing so, World Bank started offering completely free course on CPPP in a well-designed program that could benefit both junior and senior level procurement specialists. I really appreciate this excellent initiative of the World Bank.

I would strongly recommend the course to public sector officials who do not have sufficient knowledge and training in the field of public procurement and also to those individuals who are planning to work in the public-sector procurement. This will help them to have the basic understanding of public procurement.
