I am currently a management consultant mainly working on public financial management and public procurement with international development agencies and national and international NGOs. After my LLB from Mangalore University, India, I have completed an MBA (Finance) from the Business School of Abertay University in Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. In addition to completing the Certificate Program in Public Procurement, I have also undergone a training program in World Bank Procurement Procedures conducted by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) Hyderabad.

On the completion of my law degree, I started my professional practice in civil and criminal law at the Kerala High Court. Subsequently, I completed my post-graduation in Management with a British Government scholarship and continued to work in Scotland for four years after my education. It was during this experience in the Dundee City Council, Scotland, UK that I had my first exposure to public sector procurement, as part of my function as an Administration Manager. On returning to India in 2006, I started working with Citi Group in personal and corporate banking focusing on financial sales and channel management, team management, client relations, Business Development, Cash management and Operations, etc. My second brush with public procurement happened when I joined a World Bank financed Rural Water and Sanitation Project as Deputy Manager (Procurement) in 2012. I continued with this specialization when I joined IPE Global Pvt Ltd., New Delhi in 2013 for a UK DFID supported KPP Program as Procurement and Finance Expert.

My post-graduation in management along with my legal background, enables me to appreciate the strong need for a public procurement professional, to be an enabler in achieving development objectives rather than limiting myself to the rules and need for compliance with the same. I strongly believe that procurement professionals have a significant role in contributing to achieving corporate and institutional aims and objectives. While this role is formally recognized in leading corporates and many countries, I am glad that its slowly getting due recognition in our country as well, given the efforts made by international agencies like World Bank, DFID, UK etc. through their developmental projects – where procurement plays a core role in operations, right from the planning stages to prior and post reviews.

My main reason for undergoing the CPPP MOOC course was to enhance my knowledge and skills related to management principles, theories, and processes behind the rules, regulations and procedures followed in public procurement. I am very happy that this program very well meets its objectives in an easy to understand and engaging manner. I complement the team that has developed this and would call upon all public administrators to undergo this program.
