I graduated in Economics and Sociology Summa Cum Laude from Fordham University in New York (2009). I worked for one year as Executive Assistant to Fortaleza Fondo Privado, a private fund. Subsequently, I’ve spent five years with The World Bank in various positions, like Junior Professional Associate (current) and Project Analyst (previous).
I have only done the World Bank Procurement courses as a form of professional certification in Procurement. Currently, I am also being mentored by the Bolivia Country Office Procurement Specialist with the hopeful, eventual goal of becoming a Procurement Analyst.
Procurement in a country like Bolivia is very difficult and challenging. With a high turnover rate, high levels of corruption, low institutional capacity, and a weak legal framework, Bolivia is a breeding ground for fraud and collusion. I feel that working in procurement is an almost direct way of contributing to the overall wellbeing and development of my birthplace.
As mentioned earlier, procurement has a direct impact on the development of a country. The World Bank’s portfolio in Bolivia is set to triple over the next fiscal year and managing these resources correctly is the truest way to ensure that these funds fulfill their purpose.
