I graduated from the United Methodist University (Republic of Liberia) in 2012 with a Bachelor’s (BA) degree in Sociology. Also, I hold a Master’s (MSc.) degree in Procurement and Logistics from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Republic of Kenya) in July 2015.
Currently, I serve as Training Specialist in the area of Public Procurement and Management at the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA). LIPA is a Governmental Institution that is primarily charged with developing viable and productive organizational capabilities in improving the managerial skills and leadership guidance, conducting research and consultancy, and performing studies of systems and procedures in the public and private sectors. My major role is to provide training for practitioners and non-practitioners in Public Procurement. Furthermore, I have worked as in Intern at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya from March – July 2014.
Public procurement generally accounts for a large share of public expenditure in a domestic economy. Liberia is no exception in this regard. Therefore, the government needs more competent personnel with the requisite knowledge and skills to be able to carry out effective procurement by meeting the expectations of stakeholders and getting value for money. My aspiration is to contribute to this endeavour by training Liberians in Public Procurement. This was one of the main reasons for which I participated in CPPP MOOC. My main motivation has been to gain more practical insights from other experts in the field, especially from the World Bank Public Procurement department.
My specific message to all professionals in the field of Procurement who want to enhance their knowledge through Continuous Professional Development is that they should make good use of this great opportunity that has been provided by the procurementlearning.org. This course is very motivating and more practical that you can put into practice in your workplace.
